When Do I Need to Purchase Workers Compensation Insurance?
Many business owners often ask this question to make sure they are compiling with the North Carolina Workers Compensation Statues. If your business is a sole proprietorship, partnership or LLC in North Carolina, you are required to carry workers compensations once you reach three employees that are regularly employed. This does not include the owner of the business. If your business is incorporated, you must carry workers compensation as soon as you reach three employees including the officers of the corporation.
Business that have a radiation exposure are required to carry workers compensation insurance even if they only have one employee. For more detailed information on this topic, please review the North Carolina Statue at http://www.ic.nc.gov/ncic/pages/statute.htm.
