What is wedding insurance?
Wedding insurance is exactly what it sounds like. It is an insurance policy that covers your wedding and protects you financially against unforeseen mishaps and disasters that could ruin that special day. These policies are fairly inexpensive, but are extremely valuable for the peace of mind they provide.
Wedding Insurance policies will typically cover such things as:
Weather. If your celebration has to be postponed due to rain or other bad weather, your policy will pay for the cost of rescheduling.
Illness or Injury. If an essential member of the wedding party gets sick or injured and this causes the wedding to be postponed, the extra expenses associated with that postponement are covered.
Vendor No-Shows – If your caterer, photographer, florist or other vendor fails to show up for your event, you will recover some or all of those costs and, depending on the circumstances, possibly the cost of rescheduling the entire wedding.
Missing Minister – If your minister, justice of the peace or other officiant fails to show up, you will recover some of your costs.
Location – Your wedding insurance policy can include liability insurance to cover any damage to the location or building where your event is being held. This includes fire damage, electrical or mechanical problems. The policy could also provide coverage if you have to find a replacement location should your location of choice go out of business or be unavailable for some unforeseen reason.
What does wedding insurance not cover? Cold feet!
